aNewDomain.net—Angry birds—screaming birds hurled at smug pigs defending their fragile domains—has become the bestselling mobile game of all time. It has spawned a myriad variations, like catapulting the tiny avians in space and into the Star Wars universe. So where else could Rovio go with it?
Social, that’s where.
In an effort to extend that phenomenal popularity, Rovio, the Finish computer game developer that created Angry Birds is simultaneously releasing it new Angry Birds Friends version in the Apple iOS App Store and Android’s Google Play Store.
This exciting new version will have the classic Angry Birds experience while allowing friends to share their game play with social features that integrate with Facebook. To add even more spice to the game, Rovio has added power-ups which show players exactly what trajectory their bird will fly in, allowing for accurate pig destruction and increased shot speed.
Angry Birds Friends will have weekly tournaments and four gameplay modes to keep things interesting. Power-ups will rely on a new game currency called Bird Coins, which can be earned by winning competitions.
Angry Birds Friends integrates with Angry Birds on Facebook, so your tournament progress is automatically updated.
Mobile social games are waning a bit right now as one of the most popular, Words with Friends has encountered a downturn. Yet, Angry Birds Friends will obviously have plenty to keep players occupied and it is free. If any game can create an uptick in social game playing, it’s this one!
